Inside Lacrosse Names Long Island Outlaws' Brian Cannon as the 3rd Best of the Top 20 Sophomores

#3 in Inside Lacrosse's Top 20 Young Guns;

Brian Cannon, Attack, Northport (N.Y.)
Cannon is another talented candidate among a strong group of New York offensive players. The Northport prospect is a lefty who can carry, feed and finish. On the opposite end, he also rides ridiculously hard. He put together an excellent showing at both the Suffolk Showcase and at Nike Blue Chip Camp. Big reputation on Long Island that will carry nationally quickly. Cannon plays for the Long Island Outlaws club.

Highlights of the Rising Sophomores from the Long Island Showcase

#1 Brian Cannon from the Long Island Outlaws Program is featured on this video.

Lacrosse Top 20 Sophomore Watchlist, #3 is Brian Cannon / Long Island Outlaws Lacrosse

TOP 20 SOPHOMORE WATCHLIST

1. Shack Stanwick, A, Boys' Latin (Md.)There will be plenty of players who will attempt to fight their way into the top of the Class of 2014. As of now, though, Stanwick is the established No. 1 prospect in this class. As a freshman, the 6-2, 160-pound attackman finished the 2011 season as Boys' Latin's second-leading scorer (28G, 30A — second to his brother, Johns Hopkins frosh Wells Stanwick). He continued with a hot summer, participating in the Under Armour Underclass games, Nike Blue Chip Camp, the Maryland Free State games and with the BLC Crabs. He has the established Stanwick skill level and lacrosse IQ, but his athleticism is the X-Factor. He moves like a basketball player around the net, using his size to attack the cage, create shots and post up his opponents.
2. Carney Mahon, M, Chaminade (N.Y.)A top Long Island recruit, Mahon has excellent speed and shoots hard and with accuracy. Like his brother, Sean Mahon (Harvard), Carney's athletic skills translate both on offense and defense. He can also face off. Plays for For the Love Of the Game, which won the U.S. Lacrosse-sponsored U-15 National Champions.
3. Brian Cannon, A, Northport (N.Y.) Cannon is another talented candidate among a strong group of New York offensive players.
4. Sam Bonafede, M, Chaminade (N.Y.)Bonafede is a multi-tool talent who can play both ways, run with the ball and shoot accurately on the run. He tore it up at Jake Reed's Nike Blue Chip Camp, and hones his skills with the Long Island Express.
5. Townsend Brown, M/A, Georgetown Prep (Md.)Making the varsity roster for Georgetown Prep is tough when you're an established upperclassman. Brown made it as a freshman, and contributed offensively through the season. Stepped up at Nike Blue Chip and in the Maryland Free State games.
6. Adam DiMillo, M/A, Bishop Timon St. Jude (N.Y.)
A second-team All-WNY midfielder as a freshman, DiMillo scored 65 goals and 40 assists in leading Bishop Timon to the Monsignor Martin lacrosse championship. A First-Team Class B All-Star and the All-Metro Newcomer of the Year as an eighth-grader at West Seneca East, he’s a slick dodger, can let it rip on the run, and has very quick feet. He has fantastic hands and plays with confidence.
7. Greg Pelton, D, Malvern Prep (Pa.)
Pelton is one of the most talked about defensemen in this group. Hones his skill with the defensive-oriented Malvern Prep, learning under one of the great lacrosse minds in head coach Dave Metzbower. Greg IQ and lacrosse athleticism. Plays for the Mesa Fresh club program.
8. Jack Falk, M, Landon (Md.)Falk provides both a great burst of energy and strong shot selection from the midfield. Showcased well at the Nike Blue Chip and in the Free State Top 44 game. Should continue to mature as a player for the Bears, building his speed and strength.
9. Brian Zappala, G, Episcopal Academy (Pa.)This young goalie plays with a maturity that belies his recruiting age. Served as a captain for the Dukes 1 LCrising sophomore team this past summer. Great communication skills and can operate a defense effectively. Watch to see what type of varsity impact he makes. Also suits up for Mesa Fresh 2014s.
10. Riley Peters, M/A, Georgetown Prep (Md.)Peters' earned recognition early this past summer with a great turn at the Maryland Free State Top 44 games, posting three goals on three shots. Can drive the cage and work within the offense. He's honed his skills in the Little Hoyas' lacrosse program, and with Blackwolf Lacrosse.

11-20

11. Patrick McCormick, A, Hicksville (N.Y.)
12. Tyler Ruhl, A, Gilman (Md.)
13. Justin Anderson, M, Centennial (Nev.)
14. Tyler Breen, A, Taft School (Conn.) [VIRGINIA VERBAL]
15. Tyler Butler, D, Central Bucks East (Pa.)
16. Ian Kirby, A, Massapequa (N.Y.)
17. Ryan Keenan, A, Smithtown West (N.Y.)
18. Jake Seau, M, Bishop's School (Calif.)
